Dan Onjeh blasts David Mark over poor handling of feeder road projects in zone C, urges citizens to vote him out

The Benue South Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Daniel Onjeh has called on the Idoma ethnic group never to sell their votes to the incumbent, David Mark in the forthcoming national assembly election.
Onjeh said for 16 years, the Senate President had been deceiving the Idoma nation with the promise of creating a long-awaited Apa State which was yet to come into fruition.
The APC candidate, who once led the National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS, and West Africa Students Union, WASU, believes that it is time for a younger person to lead the Idoma nation to the promised land.

Speaking with IDOMA VOICE on Tuesday, a visibly enraged Onjeh expressed disappointment with the manner the senate leader handled the rural feeder road projects in the zone.
He recalled that documents containing the budget implementation report prepared by Agriculture minister Akinwumi Adesina showed that of the total 22 rural feeder roads under construction, 18 are located in Benue South Senatorial District, representing about 82 per cent but non of them had been fully implemented.
According to Onjeh, if Mark had completed one of the project fully, Idoma land would had transformed more than the way it was.
“The road projects in Benue South are: Oshigbudu-Obagaji-Okokolo (24km), N100 million; Ugbokpo-Edikwu-Opaha (21.1km), N125 million; Adum East-Ohuma-Ojuo (11km), N100 million; Oju-Ebenta-Uwokwu (23.5km), N135 million; Ukwo-Aho-Owukpa (10.9km), N120 million; and Igunmale-Ulayi-Ijigban (14km) at N100 million.
“Also on the list are Okpudu-Idiri-Ikomija (9km), N100 million; Ochobo-Agadagba-Onyagede (33.7km), N 200 million; Adoka-Umogidi-Opaha (19.1km), N100 million; Ugbokpo-Ojantle-Ikobi (15km), N85.616 million.
“Other rural feeder roads projects in Mark’s constituency are Ogoli-Ipolo-Ipum/Cho (10km), at N70 million; Awulema-Ajegaji-Ogene-Alaglanu (12km), at N85 million; Efoyo-Ikpogo-Omadewu-Ebya (9km), N85.4 million; Aduma East-Adiko-Okwutungbe (8km), N85.112 million; Otada-Emichi-Okpamaju-Odudaje (7km), N90.4 million; Otobi-Ujume-Edumoga-Ohuma (8km), N85 million; Oju-Ujume-Edumoga-Ohuma (9km), N85 million and Onobi-Icho-Ajobe-Otukpo (10km) at N60 million.
“When I traveled round these areas recently, I was moved to tears because of the way the projects were handled, the works were being done in disjointed and uncoordinated manners.
“One shocking revelation is that the contractor employed manual labour and had no equipment to carry out his duties. They only equipments employed in the course of the construction work was watering cans which they used to pour the bitumen on the road.
“No vehicle or heavy equipment was used during the construction of this road. The contractor neglected a very vital aspect of road construction; the culvert. There is no culvert in place and there are no plans to construct drainage and culverts as the contractor has ‘completed’ his project and moved from the site,” he claimed.
He lamented that, “These deprivations are intended to perpetually subject our people to a cycle of poverty and thereby limiting their aspirations to daily meal in other to survive the next minute. You can’t buy the conscience nor the vote of the average South Westerner (Yoruba’s) with paltry N200, salt, maggi & omo as obtainable in Idoma land, because their founding fathers-Chief Awolowo bequeathed them with legacy of education. More so they have tasted the dividends of good governance, thus, they can’t settle for less.
“From time immemorial, the Idoma people are never known to be in the opposition, PDP is gravitating toward becoming an opposition party. This is evident in the National Assembly today. Sen Mark cannot be the Senate President again in the 8th Senate! What he couldn’t achieve as a Senator, Senate President and member of the ruling PDP, for 16 uninterrupted years, given another four years as a Senator of the would be minority PDP, he cannot make a difference. Benue South must not be an exception to the wind of change blowing across Nigeria, let’s vote in an APC Senator to remain in the national scheme of affairs,” he added.
