The Dangote Refinery has commenced the loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), known as petrol.
This development was revealed through a video shared on the Dangote Group’s official X account on Sunday.
The video, captioned “HAPPENING NOW: First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery,” marks a pivotal moment in the country’s fuel sector.
This announcement follows the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)’s update on Saturday, stating that over 300 trucks had arrived at the Dangote Refinery in preparation for petrol loading.
This is the first instance in years that domestically produced petrol will be distributed within Nigeria.
Earlier, Finance Minister Wale Edun and Federal Inland Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji confirmed that all necessary agreements were finalized to enable NNPCL to commence petrol lifting from the Dangote Refinery.
Petroleum marketers anticipate that the initiation of petrol distribution from the Dangote Refinery will alleviate fuel scarcity and potentially lead to a reduction in fuel prices.
