Tragedy struck on Friday along the Gboko–Aliade road in Benue State when a Dangote truck crushed three people to death in Luga, a suburb of Gboko Local Government Area.

The victims — two brothers and a young woman — were reportedly riding on a Bajaj motorcycle when the accident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, two Dangote trucks were speeding side by side on the narrow road when one of them, unable to avoid the motorcycle due to limited space, rammed into it from behind, killing all three occupants instantly.

The corpses were later evacuated to a mortuary in nearby Agidi, while both trucks were taken to the police station in Gboko for investigation.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Gboko branch of Dantrans, the transport wing of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Adamu Alfa, described the accident as “sad and unfortunate.”

He clarified that although the crash occurred in Gboko, the trucks involved were from the company’s cement plant in Ibese, Ogun State, and not from the Gboko plant.

Alfa also explained that the company has intensified its weekly sensitisation and orientation sessions for drivers to promote road safety and responsible conduct.

Eyewitnesses identified the victims as Orgem Ugondo and Aondozungwe Ugondo of Mbatan kindred in Mbayion, Gboko Local Government Area.

The female passenger, said to have been offered a lift by the brothers, was yet to be identified at the time of filing this report.
