Lobi Stars Football Club has confirmed that Daniel Amokachi has stepped down as the club’s Technical Adviser, citing personal reasons and the team’s current struggles.
In a statement issued by the club’s Media Director, Ujah Emmanuel, Amokachi’s resignation was described as a strategic decision made in the best interest of the team.
Following Lobi Stars’ recent home match against Katsina United, Amokachi formally communicated his decision to the club’s Chairman, Dr. Philip Nongu. In his message, the former Super Eagles forward expressed his disappointment over the team’s performance and his desire to step aside to allow for a fresh approach.
“After a meeting with my mother and family, I regret to announce my resignation from the position of Technical Adviser of the team. I have given my all, but things are not going the way they are supposed to. The club is bigger than a brand or a Technical Adviser, and I feel I should step aside before it’s too late for the club to fight getting out of the red zone,” Amokachi stated.
The club acknowledged Amokachi’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors. During his tenure, Lobi Stars played 19 matches, securing 3 wins, 7 draws, and 9 losses.
To ensure stability, the club has appointed Sam Addingi as caretaker coach, with hopes that his leadership will revitalize the team.
Lobi Stars delayed the public announcement of Amokachi’s departure to prevent distractions ahead of their crucial NPFL Matchday 25 fixture against 3SC.
The club also extended its appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his continued support, reaffirming its commitment to improving performance and securing better results in the league.
