Former Senate President, David Mark has recall the day emotion betrayed on the floor of the Red Chamber.
Mark, who led the Senate for eight uninterrupted years, in his farewell speech at the last plenary session, said he would never forget the day he inaugurated back to the hallowed chamber after winning his rerun election against APC Dan Onjeh.
He said, “I have memorable experiences in this hallowed chamber but the day I will never forget is the day I was inaugurated after I won the rerun election.
“Mr. President, we all know the tradition of the house but that day, that tradition was set aside, the moment I stepped into this hallowed chamber, all the Distinguished Senators here stood to give me a standing ovation.
“Even Mr. President stood to welcome me. I promise that as I leave this house, I would be available to always give advice(s) when necessary.”
Mark was elected into the house to represent Benue South in 1999.
