DCN Jonah Omaji Adoh buries father in Adoka [PHOTOS]
Renowned philanthropist and businessman, DCN Jonah Omaji Adoh, on Wednesday laid his father, Chief Steve Omaji Adoh, to rest in Adoka, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Chief Steve Omaji Adoh, who passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 80, began his final journey home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with a Christian wake held at his country home in Opah, Adoka. Tributes poured in from family members, friends, and well-wishers, celebrating a life widely described as well spent.
The funeral service took place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Baptist Church, Opah-Adoka, after which the deceased was laid to rest.
Speaking with newsmen, his son, DCN Jonah Omaji Adoh, described his father’s death as a great vacuum that cannot be replaced.
“My father’s passing has created a vacuum that can never be filled. He lived a life of integrity, justice, and peace. As a chief in Adoka Kingdom, he worked tirelessly to ensure harmony in the land, and that peace still endures today. We are comforted by the legacy he left behind,” he said.
Also speaking, the Ogbenjuwa K’Adoka, Chief Owoicho Igoji, commiserated with his good friend, DCN Jonah Omaji Adoh, his siblings, and the entire Adoh family over the loss of their patriarch.
“Chief Steve Omaji Adoh lived a life worthy of emulation. He was a man of wisdom, peace, and truth. We mourn his passing, but we also celebrate the values he stood for. May God grant the family the strength to bear this great loss,” he said.
Mr. Ochola Omafu on his part, described the late chief as a father figure beyond his immediate family.
“Papa Adoh was not just a community leader; he was a father to many. His counsel, humility, and love for the people of Adoka will never be forgotten. He represented the true spirit of leadership, service, fairness and unity. Adoka has lost a great son, but his good works will continue to speak for him,” he stated.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the burial described the late Chief Adoh as a man of honour, peace, and integrity.
Pastor Oloche Adaji noted that the deceased lived a faith-driven life.

“Chief Adoh lived a life anchored in faith and good works. A good name is better than riches, and his name commands respect. “Adoka has lost a man whose wisdom helped sustain unity in our land. His absence will be deeply felt,” the cleric said.
Former lawmaker representing Adoka/Ugboju, Hon. Austine Effa, said the deceased was a father figure to many.
“His contributions to peace and development will not be forgotten. His life remains a benchmark for leadership.”
The Ejekwote K’Adoka, Chief Friday Omale, noted that the deceased was a custodian of culture and peace, while Chief Maxwell Imonde described him as a man whose word could be trusted.
Other dignitaries present at the burial included Chief Mike Alapa, Pastor Oloche Adaji, Chief Ikpeme Igoji (Adoka Ward Head), Mr. Jim Imonde, Mr. Kingsley Oche Awodi (Founder, Awodi Foundation), Hon. Austine Effa, Chief Friday Omale (Ejekwote K’Adoka), Chief Maxwell Imonde, Chief Friday Angbla, Chief Owoicho Maxwell Imonde, Mr. Ochola Omafu, Comrade James E. Amedu, and many others too numerous to mention.
