Popular activist, Deji Adeyanju, has named some of the best governors in the history of Nigeria.
In his assessment, these governors made significant impacts in their respective states and left a lasting legacy that extended beyond their tenure in office.
Adeyanju mentioned Godswill Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom, as one of the exemplary leaders who not only transformed the state’s infrastructure but also changed the mindset of its people.
Akpabio’s visionary leadership is believed to have laid the foundation for the state’s development and progress.
Another governor mentioned by Adeyanju was Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State. According to Adeyanju, the people of Kano continue to support Kwankwaso because of his generational investments in education, healthcare, and other critical sectors. Kwankwaso’s commitment to improving the lives of his constituents earned him the admiration and loyalty of the people.
Adeyanju also praised Olusegun Mimiko, the former governor of Ondo State, for his implementation of free education and healthcare initiatives. Mimiko’s focus on providing accessible and quality education and healthcare services contributed to the well-being of the people of Ondo State.
Additionally, Adeyanju commended Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, for his dedication to infrastructure development.
Wike’s efforts to improve the state’s roads, bridges, and other key infrastructure have positively impacted the lives of the people and boosted economic growth.
In his message to newly elected governors, Adeyanju urged them to learn from the examples set by leaders like Kwankwaso and Akpabio.
He noted that being a governor is not merely a title but a responsibility to bring about positive change and development in the lives of the people they serve.
