The Commissioner of Police for Delta State Command, Wale Abass, commended his officers for successfully apprehending a suspected cultist and murderer.
Following the directive from Abass, CSP Olasunkanmi Musiliu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oghara, initiated an investigation into the death of Destiny Idi, a 27-year-old resident of Ovade Community on Ovie Road, Ogharafe, allegedly killed by suspected cult members.
Musiliu led officers from the Division’s surveillance anti-crime patrol team and conducted a discreet operation. On the same day, acting on an eyewitness account, he apprehended Charles Debi-Abate, a 39-year-old member of the Aro Bagger Confraternity. Debi-Abate, originally from Oghara but residing in Mosagar due to his criminal involvement, was identified as the mastermind behind the act.
Delta State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, verified the development. Initial investigations revealed that Debi-Abate was part of a syndicate responsible for the murder of Onyekachi Chibuzor, also known as Odogwu, aged 42, on July 28, 2023. He was additionally linked to numerous cult-related assaults against perceived adversaries in Oghara.
“While the suspect denied his involvement in the gang that murdered Solomon Idi, he implicated two individuals named Onyeka and Paul (last names unknown) as the perpetrators of the murder. The suspect led operatives to the residences of Onyeka and Paul, but they were not present. During a thorough search of their premises, two English pump-action guns, 20 live cartridges, and a GLK Benz SUV with registration number RBC-995-DG were seized.”
“Both suspects and seized items are currently in custody as efforts continue to track down the fleeing individuals,” Edafe declared.
