Delta Police apprehend suspects in RCCG burglary, recovers stolen items

The Delta State Police command has announced the arrest of two suspected notorious armed robbers, Patrick Emete and Alex Uwagbafor, for their alleged involvement in burglarizing the Redeem Christian Church of God, known as “Dominion Mega” in Orerokpe Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, DSP Bright Edafe, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development. The suspects are accused of stealing various musical instruments from the church during their operation on November 17.

Following a report about the robbery incident, the DPO in Orerokpe Division, CSP Paul Obaware, promptly mobilized and led his operatives to the crime scene. Subsequently, an operation was planned and executed based on the stolen items. On November 19, Patrick Emete, one of the suspects, posted a stolen amplifier for sale on his Facebook page.

Detectives, posing as buyers, lured and trailed the suspect to Effurun Roundabout, where he was apprehended around 13:04 hrs on the same date. After the 36-year-old suspect’s confession, his associate, Alex Uwagbafor, aged 45, was also arrested.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are notorious thieves with a penchant for burglarizing churches, shops, and homes. The police recovered various items from the suspects, including 20 big loudspeakers, 15 large mixers amplifiers, three generator sets, four keyboards, 10 industrial standing fans, 12 power amplifiers, one complete drum set, one guitar, one power mic, two standing freezers, two plasma televisions, two home theaters, one washing machine, and three stabilizers.
