Feyenoord, the former Eredivisie champions, have picked Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers, as their player of the month for the month of May.
Dessers finished a fantastic season with Feyenoord by scoring three goals in May, bringing his total for the Castle Lords to 20. In Feyenoord’s comeback against PSV Eindhoven, he scored two late goals, and he also scored the consolation goal in their 2-1 loss against Twente.
The former Utrecht player has been crowned Castle Lords May player of the month for his efforts. The award ensures that he won the last two Player of the Month awards for the previous season.
After winning player of the month and goal of the month trophies last November, this is his sixth personal award of the 2021/2022 season.
Yet, despite all these awards, the Nigerian international received last season, Feyenoord were unable to sign him on a permanent basis, as Genk’s €4.5 million valuation of the striker was considered excessive for their budget.
