Fresh facts have emerged over the robbery attack on some commercial banks, including, First Bank and three other commercial banks in Uromi town, Esan Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State.
IDOMA VOICE reports that the robbery attack on First Bank and other commercial banks left at least seven people, including a police man dead and scores of others seriously injured.
A customer of FIrst Bank, who was present during the raid, said the attackers got to the town in their numbers and in several vehicles before they invaded First Bank and three banks with dynamites.
The eyewitness said the gunmen were unmasked and shot sporadically the moment the entered the ancient town.
“I escaped by whiskers. The gunmen were many in their numbers and were wielding sophisticated weapons. I was inside First Bank when they struck.
“The attacks were well-coordinated, as the suspected armed robbers wasted no time during their operation.
“It was done in a commando-style, and the armed robbers launched the attacks simultaneously. We have not heard or seen such attacks in this town before now.
“Police tried to engage them but lost two of their men,” the source added.
He said those killed could be more than seven.
