Details of Idoma-born Akor Adams’ contract with Sevilla
Sevilla have officially completed the signing of Nigerian striker Akor Adams from Montpellier, as announced on the club’s website on Monday.
The 24-year-old forward has signed a contract that ties him to the Spanish side until 2029, bolstering their attacking options significantly.
Adams was present at Sevilla’s match against RCD Espanyol on Saturday, marking his first day as part of the club.
The prolific striker joins from Montpellier, where he has been playing since August 2023. This season, Adams made 15 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
Before his time in France, Adams enjoyed a remarkable spell with Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK in the Eliteserien. In the 2023 season, he scored 17 goals in 17 matches, earning recognition across Europe and briefly leading the European Golden Shoe standings.
Adams’ rise in European football began in 2018 when he moved from Nigeria’s Jamba Football Academy to Norwegian second-division club Sogndal IL. His impressive performances in Norway paved the way for his eventual transfer to Ligue 1.
On the international stage, Adams has represented Nigeria at youth level, featuring twice for the Under-20 team at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
At Sevilla, Adams joins fellow Nigerian internationals Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho. However, Iheanacho has been the subject of transfer speculation during the ongoing January window.
