Detained Benue man, Bernard Ogbu has been killed – Activist declares

Benue-born human rights activist, Ukan P Kurugh has said that Bernard Ogbu who was allegedly arrested and detained by men of the Nigeria Police Force for over 3 years is dead.

Recall that IDOMAVOICE reported earlier how Mr. Ogbu’s continuous detention has caused uproar.

Kurugh in a post via his official Facebook page said he has confirmed that the 43-year-old Benue man held for three years without bail and trial was killed by men of the defunct SARS unit.

Below is an excerpt of the post made by the renowned activist:

“#Justice4BernardOgbu

I got the number of ASP Felix Onoja who arrested Bernard Ogbu 3 years back in a gestapo style and never charged him to court for the number of years he was in detention until I confirmed he had been wasted by the men of the now defunct SARS abattoir Guzape, Abuja.

At about 7.20pm yesterday, I put up a call to ASP Felix. I introduced myself to him and we spoke well. He also responded to all the questions I asked him.

However, what he couldn’t answer was when I asked him if really Bernard Ogbu was dead or alive. He kept on pleading that I should come to his office so we could talk as men or as the activist I claimed to be.

Fellow Nigerians, depression and trauma killed Bernard Ogbu’s wife while her husband was in prison and now, the man himself is wasted leaving behind 4 kids for probably the Nigeria Police Force to train.

Indeed there is no place for the wicked on earth. So here is ASP Felix Onoja’s number 08034523124 who arrested Bernard 3 years back and till date has not been charged to court until I confirmed from an inner source that he had been wasted.

It will be nice if we ask him questions on the whereabouts of Bernard- whether he is dead or alive.” He wrote.
