Muhammadu Sanusi II, the deposed emir of Kano has arrived in Loko, Nasarawa state, where he is expected to begin a life in exile.
Loko is few minutes away from Agatu, Idoma speaking part of Benue State.
He arrived the town on Monday night.
Muhammadu Sanusi II was on Monday dethroned by the Kano State government and banished to Loko in Nasarawa state. According to the Secretary to the State government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, who made the announcement after the State Executive Council meeting, the dethronement is in line with the provision of Kano state Emirate Council Law 2019.
“Section 11 (1) of the Law has empowered the governor to appoint Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano,” he said.
Alhaji said the four kingmakers of Kano emirate had earlier recommended the appointment of Aminu Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano.
Bayero is the 15th emir of Fulani.
Until his appointment as emir of Kano, Bayero was the emir of Bichi, one of the four newly created emirates.
Loko is a town in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The town which has existed for more than a century, once served as the headquarters of the North where Mongo Park held meetings with emirs from the North.
It currently has a first class emir, Abubakar Sabo Umar.
As an agrarian community, farming and fishing are their preoccupation.
The town also has a federal road, linking the north to the south, where the popular Loko/Oweto linking Benue is situated.
