The Oyachaba K’Idoma, Dr Dickson Akoh extends his heartfelt congratulations to the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Fr. Hyacinth Alia on his unanimous victory from the Supreme Court today, 8th January, 2024.
Dr Akoh describes the unanimous decision of the court to dismiss the appeal filed by the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party as a welcome development orchestrated by God. He therefore expresses confidence in the capacity of the Governor to continue in his efforts to advance the cause of developing Benue and make it an envy of other states in the country.
Dr Akoh, in the same manner, applauds the tremendous efforts of the Governor in the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of the state so far. He noted the landmark achievements of the Governor Alia led administration in fixing the infrastructural deficit of the state capital, particularly in the construction of township roads within Makurdi metropolis and advise the Governor not to relent in his bid to transform the state.
Dr Akoh also expresses happiness at the prudent management of state resources by the Governor which has culminated in the prompt payment of Civil Servants and Pensioners’ salaries. He encourages him to sustain this temple as Benue Workers had suffered untold hardship from non payment of salary and pension in the past.
Akoh added that the decision of the State government to register all Benue State Students in public schools within the State for West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) is a legendary step that has made education accessible to all and sundry within the state. ‘This decision is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Growth Agenda in making education accessible to all’ he stated.
The APC Chieftain advises the Governor to be magnanimous in victory by carrying everyone along in his administration so as to achieve lasting development of the State. According to him, Benue State has divergence interests, which when harnessed and well managed, will lead to significant growth and development of the State.
