Benue born prolific youth leader and pragmatic politician, Dr. Dickson Akoh has declared that those who ran away from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will regret their action after the 2019 general elections may have come and gone.
Dr. Akoh stated this in his Ogoli Ugboju country home during an interactive parley of Zone-C APC stakeholders and members held Sunday afternoon at the Ambassador’s Resort & Gardens, Ogoli-Ugboju
Addressing his guests, Dr. Akoh commended the local government chairmen and their councillors who stood on their ground in the party despite turn of event in the State.
The youth ambassador said “I commend those local government chairmen and their councillors who are still standing with the APC. Each of us has interest; the Governor has his and decided to pursue his aspiration on another party platform. Do not let anyone use you against your people. Stay with the APC and see what happens in 2019.”
Akoh who expressed gladness over the large turn out for the meeting said he shall alongside other stakeholders in the State ensure that the party is built to the envy of those who left the party at the slightest challenge, maintaining that sooner than later, those who ran away from the party will regret their actions. He added that the party must always honour those labouring for it and avoid the politics of dishing tickets to strangers who cannot adhere to the principles and ideas of the APC.
Also speaking, the State legal adviser of the party, Hon. Barr. Omale Omale encouraged all local government chairmen and councillors under the APC to remain with the party without fear of harassment from the Governor who is now in the PDP.
Omale said the Governor has no right to remove any elected council member as insinuated in some quarters, directing APC councillors to declare any councillor’s seat vacant if he or she defects from the party.
It was a rousing applause when one of the speakers, Hon. (Mrs) Theresa Ikwue declared that God decided to help the APC win the 2019 elections by removing Governor Samuel Ortom whom she said performed abysmally poor and became unmarketable.
Hon. Abua who represented leader of the party in the State, in his speech said he saw that Governor Samuel Ortom came to the government house with archaic motor park idea suitable only for his siblings and in-laws. Abua said Ortom set up MOUs, commissioned Anti-Grazing law, launched propaganda against out of parochialism.
Abua on behalf of Senator George Akume told Zone C members of the party to remain with the party as victory is sure in the next election. He said the leader of the party is relentless in his efforts to ensure the APC witness another round of victory in 2019.
