Some gunmen suspected to be the bandits causing havoc in parts of Zamfara State have attacked Ruwan Rana under the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.
The head of the district, Magaji Makau and five others were reportedly kidnapped during the attack.
The incident unfolded on a harrowing Saturday night when these armed individuals invaded the community, unleashing a volley of gunshots before forcibly taking the victims to an undisclosed location.
Tragically, these assailants also made off with an unspecified number of cattle owned by the community’s residents.
Efforts to contact the state command for further information proved unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abdullahi, did not respond to calls.
However, an eyewitness and Bukkuyum town resident, Ilyasu Abubakar, has confirmed this unfortunate development to Channels Television.
“The bandits entered the town on Saturday night and started shooting sporadically; people went into hiding because of the fear of being kidnapped,” the resident said.
“They picked the district head and five other persons in the community; several livestock were also rustled”, he said.
