The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) has strongly condemned the recent abduction of the District Head of Garu Kurama, Yakubu Jadi, along with six other members of the Gurzan Kurama community in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The incident occurred on Friday night.
In a statement issued by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer, Josiah Yusuf Abraks, the abducted individuals were identified as Yakubu Jadi (District Head), Iliya Yakubu, Nehemiah Tanko, Thomas Tanko, the District Head’s daughter, and the community’s Catholic Catechist.
SOKAPU described the abductions as deeply unfortunate, alarming, and a cause for great concern.
“SOKAPU urges security agencies and relevant authorities to make every effort to ensure the swift and safe release of Mr. Yakubu Jadi and the six other victims,” the statement read.
The Forum also called on all levels of government to intensify efforts in safeguarding lives and properties. Additionally, SOKAPU advised communities to remain vigilant, be alert to unusual activities or unfamiliar faces in their surroundings, and promptly report any suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.
