Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has blasted those criticising the new naira notes.
There has been controversy over the introduction of the new naira notes since it was unveiled to the public on Wednesday.
The old currency colour was only adjusted and this got many Nigerians talking.
However, Omokri believes that the aim of the naira redesign was not to make it beautiful but for security reasons.
He noted that the dollar is not beautiful but powerful.
He tweeted, “The Naira was not redesigned for beauty. It was redesigned for economic and security reasons. And it achieved exactly that. Naira appreciated. Bandits were flummoxed. The dollar is powerful, but not beautiful. Emefiele and the CBN board deserve kudos, not hubris!”
