Don’t blame Tinubu for current hardship in Nigeria – Deputy Speaker Ben Kalu

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, asserted that President Bola Tinubu cannot be blamed for Nigeria’s current economic challenges.

Kalu made this statement while celebrating his 53rd birthday at his country home in Bende, Abia State, where he hosted orphans, widows, people living with disabilities, and the elderly.

Addressing the media during the well-attended event, the Deputy Speaker explained that the country’s economic difficulties were a result of past administrations’ mismanagement, which President Tinubu is diligently working to rectify.

“The hardships we are facing were not caused by President Tinubu. They are a culmination of errors from previous administrations,” Kalu emphasized.

He urged Nigerians to be patient as Tinubu endeavors to address these inherited challenges, noting that his policies are gradually yielding positive outcomes.

“We cannot continue to deceive ourselves that all is well. Tinubu is committed to restoring order for sustainable livelihoods. Let’s support and encourage him,” Kalu urged.

He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future post the current turbulence, advising citizens not to lose hope but to trust in the current leadership.

Explaining his decision to celebrate his birthday with the destitute, Kalu stressed the importance of caring for humanity and bringing joy to those in need.

“I could have celebrated with the wealthy in Abuja, but what purpose would that serve when we still have the less privileged among us?” he questioned.

“These vulnerable groups are often neglected. They need love and care. So, I chose to inspire hope by sharing a meal with them and providing assistance,” Kalu added.

He criticized the hoarding of resources during times of need, emphasizing the cruelty of living lavishly while others suffer.

“What’s the point of hoarding resources when people are hungry? Why wait until elections to distribute aid?” he challenged.
