Doping Scandal: Arsenal’s Partey to replace Pogba at Juventus

Juventus have reportedly identified Arsenal’s star midfielder, Thomas Partey, as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, whose contract is at risk of termination following a suspension due to a positive test for the banned substance testosterone.

Pogba’s suspension came after he was subjected to random testing following Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Udinese in August. His fate now hinges on the outcome of a second test sample, with a positive result potentially leading to a ban ranging from two to four years, contingent on whether any substance use is deemed intentional.

In a statement to Sky Sports on Tuesday, Pogba’s representatives said: “We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we can’t say anything.

“The certain thing is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules.”

In light of this uncertainty, Juventus have turned their attention to Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, according to reports. Italian outlet La Repubblica (via Get Football News Italy) suggests that Juventus views the Ghanaian international as a player capable of making a significant impact in their midfield.

The Old Lady had previously expressed interest in Partey during the summer transfer window. Talks with Arsenal took place, but an agreement on the transfer fee could not be reached, despite purportedly finalizing personal terms with the player.

While a January deal appears challenging, partly due to Partey’s ongoing groin injury, Juventus remains keen on the midfielder. Manager Mikel Arteta has estimated that Partey will be sidelined “for a few weeks,” with the player set to miss an upcoming clash against Everton. In the interim, this injury provides other Arsenal players with an opportunity to establish themselves in the team.
