Double honour for Senator Abba Moro
The Senator Representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, today received the leadership of Students Union of Joseph Tarka University Makurdi, formally University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in his National Assembly Office.
The Students Union Leadership led by its President, Comrade Pius E. Adai, was in the office to present the Certificate of its Grand Patron, duly signed by the Dean of the Student Affairs, to the People’s Senator.
Speaking on behalf of the student body, the President, Comr. Pius Adai, said that making Senator Moro their Grand Patron was one of their greatest achievements in office, they believe that as a Comrade, the Senator understands what their struggles are.
In Similar vein, the Comrade Senator received Ado Youths Network for Good Governance (AYNGG).
The group led by Comrade Agaba Amos said their visit was to appreciate the Senator for his good governance and exceptional leadership in Benue South Senatorial District, and Ado in particular.
They eulogized the Ogigo-Mebe K’Idoma for his proactive leadership in the Senate especially his role for the unconditional release of Elijah Odeh held in Kano, and his petition to the Senate over refusal of PENCOM to pay his sick constituent, Gabriel Iduh, part of his savings to go for surgery.
The group also thanked the Senator for the Primary Healthcare Center at Apa-Agila, in Ado Local Government, and his disposition towards the youth. They hailed his leadership presence even in remote places of Ado such as Ekile, Ezza and Izzi Communities.
In honour of the Senator’s good governance which the group preaches and stands for, a special portrait of the Peoples Senator was presented to him.
Responding, Senator Moro thanked the two groups for coming to identify with him. He said he was honoured to be appointed by the Students Union of the University as its Grand Patron and said he had adopted the Union as part of his constituency.
He urged the youths to get involved in politics and hold their leaders accountable, because, according to him, the youths are the ones to inherit the current leadership.
He said it was not enough to criticize leaders all the time but profer the alternatives and solutions by the critics.
The Senator assured the Students body and the youth organization that they could always count on him as a worthy partner to enforce the will of the people at any time.
