A potential political clash between the immediate past Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, and his predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, seems to have reignited as both politicians were spotted at the Presidential Villa on Friday. It is believed that they were invited by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Following the meeting, Ganduje addressed State House correspondents, revealing that he came to report Rabiu Kwankwaso to President Tinubu regarding the ongoing demolition activities in Kano State. He described the demolition, carried out by Governor Abba Yusuf, as “illegal.”
Ganduje accused Governor Yusuf of acting as a stooge for Kwankwaso and claimed that the demolitions were executed without due process, violating the law. He criticized the lack of proper investigation and notice in accordance with the provisions of the Land Use Act.
Governor Yusuf had earlier issued a directive for security agencies in Kano to reclaim all public properties believed to have been sold by the Ganduje administration, alleging that they were illegally acquired and built.
Among the structures demolished during the recent incident were Haji Camp, Daula Hotel, and shopping complexes around the Eid Prayer Ground in Kano. Ganduje argued that these structures were developed through Public-Private Partnerships.
The encounter between Ganduje and Kwankwaso at the Presidential Villa has sparked curiosity about the potential implications for Kano State’s political landscape. As the situation unfolds, the actions and responses of the involved parties will undoubtedly shape the future course of politics in the state.
