Drama as Gboko youths welcome Gov Alia with wheelbarrow convoy
Youths in Gboko Local Government Area gave Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia an unusual welcome on Sunday, September 28, 2025, arriving at the venue of the Ior-Ijemgbagh New Yam Festival in a convoy of wheelbarrows.
The gesture comes days after the governor faced criticism for reportedly “empowering” youths in the state with wheelbarrows, a move that sparked debate on social media.
Despite the playful reception, Governor Alia was warmly received by the people of Gboko, reflecting his continued popularity in the area.
