The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has announced the immediate suspension of Drambi Vandi, the trigger-happy policeman who killed Raheem Bolanle on Christmas Day.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Baba Usman said the suspension of the killer policeman was in line with the disciplinary processes of the Police Force.
A statement by the Force Headquarters Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the suspension will ensure that the investigation of the Drambi Vandi will not be interfered with and to ensure enabling environment for justice.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has recommended the immediate suspension of Assistant Superintendent of Police Drambi Vandi, the officer attached to the Ajah Divisional Headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command, responsible for the shooting and killing of Barrister Omobolanle Raheem while waiting for the detailed report on the incident.
“The IGP noted that the recommendation for the suspension of the officer is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force. The IGP further noted that the suspension is also expected to create an enabling environment for necessary legal procedures to uphold justice in the case without interference, the statement read in part.
It added that “the suspension is without prejudice to the constitutional presumption of innocence in favour of the officer.”
Drambi Vandi, a trigger-happy policeman, attached to Ajiwe Police Station, Ajah Division, shot and killed Barrister Omobolanle Raheem, who was pregnant with twins at the time of her unfortunate death.
