DSS uncovers plans for violent protests, warns plotters
The Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed its discovery of plans by certain elements in various parts of the country to organize violent protests with the aim of discrediting the Federal Government and security agencies regarding various socio-economic concerns.
In an official statement issued on Monday, DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya revealed that intelligence reports had identified the plotters, including certain politicians who are actively rallying unsuspecting student leaders, ethnicity-based associations, youth, and dissatisfied groups for this planned action.
The DSS has taken measures to identify the ringleaders of this plot and is maintaining continuous surveillance around them to deter any attempts to destabilize the country.
The statement further advised Vice-Chancellors of universities and heads of tertiary institutions to discourage their students from participating in activities that could disrupt public peace. Parents and guardians were also encouraged to counsel their children and wards against getting involved in actions that go against the law and order.
The DSS emphasized its awareness of the government’s efforts to address the nation’s challenges and urged those considering subverting national security to reconsider their actions. It issued a stern warning that it would take legal action against individuals and groups involved in these nefarious plans.
