INEC Uploads 4.5% of Edo Election Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it has uploaded 4.5 percent of the results from the Edo governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal. As of Saturday, the portal indicated that 205 results from the 4,519 polling units where elections were conducted in the state have been made available for public viewing.

Voting Hours Extended in Edo as INEC Addresses Polling Delays

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of voting hours in the ongoing Edo State governorship election in areas where the exercise began late due to various challenges.

In a statement, INEC clarified that this decision aligns with its Regulations and Guidelines, stating that voting will be extended in any location where it commenced late. Voting will continue until the last voter in the queue who arrived by 2:30 PM has cast their ballot.

According to reports, the arrests occurred during a surveillance operation aimed at curbing electoral malpractices as the Edo governorship election unfolded. The suspects were allegedly caught in the act of offering cash incentives to voters in exchange for their votes.

The EFCC has emphasized its commitment to ensuring a free and fair electoral process, warning that it will not tolerate any form of electoral corruption. The agency has urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to vote-buying or other electoral offenses.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody and are expected to face charges related to electoral fraud. The EFCC reiterated its dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.

Voting Begins in Esan West LG, Septuagenarian Praises Peaceful Process

As of 8:30 AM, voting has commenced at Eguare Primary School, Ward 2, Ujogba, in Esan West Local Government Area.

IDOMA VOICE reports that voters were present at Units 2, 3, and 11. Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were deployed to ensure security at the voting centers.

After casting his ballot, 70-year-old Pa Robert Aiguekhagbon expressed his appreciation for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the voting process. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain this peaceful atmosphere and encouraged those yet to vote to continue behaving calmly.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are currently absent at the polling unit for PDP’s governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

The Idinrio community in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area, is eerily calm and quiet.

Edo Election: Voting Begins In Oredo Ward

8:29 AM: At Eguare Primary School in Ekpoma, Esan West LGA, the location functions as both a Registration Area Center (RAC) and a Polling Unit (PU) for Ward 4, including units 5, 6, 7, and 8. The RAC distributes electoral materials to other polling units.
