Security agencies on Saturday assured people of Edo State of their readiness for the September 19 governorship election.
They gave the assurance during an exercise tagged ‘Show of Force’.
NAN reports that the exercise involved the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, and Department of State Services.
Others were Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Immigration Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Areas covered were Sapele road, Sokponba road, Erediawa road and Murtala Mohammed way, Ikpoba slope/Ramat park and Aduwawa road.
Others were Upper mission extension, New Benin, New Lagos road, Boundary road, Airport road, Akenzua road, Ekenhua road and the Uselu/Lagos road.
The exercise will continue on Sunday.
CSP Chidi Nwabuzor, Police Public Relations Officer in Edo, said the show was to ensure that Edo was well monitored ahead of the election.
He added that it would send a strong signal to criminal elements that security agencies were ready to protect the people.
The spokesman assured that the agencies were working with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
