The Edo State Government has announced an indefinite delay in the reopening of all schools in the state due to the recent increase in fuel prices.

In a memo issued on Saturday, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, the government stated that the resumption date originally set for September 9 has been postponed until further notice.

“The Edo State Government hereby announces the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in the state, initially scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, until further notice,” the memo read.

The government cited rising tensions and the difficulties faced by parents and guardians as reasons for the delay. It also advised parents, guardians, and caregivers to closely monitor their children and wards due to the current situation and the impact of the fuel price hike.
