Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, swore in the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice on Wednesday, just 24 hours after taking office.

Barrister Musa Ikhilor was appointed as SSG, while Barrister Samson Osagie assumed the role of Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

Okpebholo had announced the nominations of Ikhilor and Osagie on Tuesday, just two hours after his inauguration. Within a day, Osagie was screened and confirmed by the Edo State House of Assembly.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Okpebholo urged the new appointees to support him in realizing his vision for the state and prioritizing the welfare of the people.

“I was elected to work, and everyone must be prepared to work,” Okpebholo said. “I carefully selected these appointees based on their proven integrity. Work with them, and together we will achieve the best for Edo State.”

He added, “I promised during my campaign to work with the best, and these appointments reflect that commitment. The best is yet to come.”

Ikhilor, the new SSG, expressed his determination to help the Governor fulfill his campaign promises by driving positive change and development in the state. Similarly, Osagie, the new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, pledged to ensure the protection of the rights of Edo people and support the Governor in achieving his agenda for the state.
