EFCC denies discovering $800m, ₦700bn, drugs at El-Rufai’s son’s residence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted claims that it uncovered $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and drugs worth ₦1 trillion at the home of Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

In a brief statement shared on its official Facebook page on Thursday, the EFCC dismissed the reports as baseless and misleading.

The clarification came amid widespread speculation about an alleged raid on Bello El-Rufai’s residence in Kaduna. The EFCC labeled the story a “false narrative” and urged the public to disregard it.

The agency’s statement read:
“‘EFCC Discovers $800 Million, ₦700 Billion Cash, and ₦1 Trillion Worth of Drugs at Nasir El-Rufai Son’s House in Kaduna’—This news is entirely false. Members of the public are advised to ignore it.”

Bello El-Rufai also denied the allegations, emphasizing that no such raid or discovery occurred.
