The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed its intention to expel former Governor Ayodele Fayose from the party. The party conveyed its decision for Fayose’s expulsion to the National Working Committee (NWC), citing his anti-party actions and those of other PDP leaders in the state as reasons.
Chief Olalekan Amerijoye, the Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Transition Committee, made this announcement to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday. He emphasized that the party would no longer tolerate the detrimental activities that were contrary to the party’s principles and interests.
“Challenges are inevitable in any significant political entity, often causing temporary setbacks,” he acknowledged. “While disagreements are a natural part of political development, it is crucial for us to prioritize the greater good over our differences.”
Amerijoye further added, “We are awaiting the National Working Committee’s response to the majority decision of Ekiti stakeholders regarding the suspension of former Governor Ayodele Fayose from the party.”
“The genuine members of Ekiti PDP have collectively resolved during our recent meeting on the appropriate punitive measures for those who have turned the party into a commercial venture. These resolutions have been conveyed to the headquarters in Abuja by concerned individuals, and we await their response for the sake of PDP’s interests in Ekiti.”
