Eko Bridge in Lagos to undergo emergency repairs; to be closed for two days

The Lagos State Government has declared the temporary closure of the popular Eko Bridge for a period of two days in order to conduct vital emergency repairs. The decision was prompted by the urgent need to prevent the potential vandalization and theft of an expansion joint, as well as to replace missing components and recast the transition concrete around this critical joint.

The closure is scheduled to commence at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, and the bridge is anticipated to be reopened to vehicular traffic at 4 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Motorists who had plans to use the Eko Bridge during this time frame are advised to divert to the Costain Ramp to access Alaka via the Costain Roundabout. It’s crucial for drivers to remain patient, cooperate with deployed traffic and security personnel, and observe all necessary safety precautions while using alternative routes during this temporary closure.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured the public that all efforts would be made to ensure the repair work is completed as scheduled, minimizing inconvenience to commuters and maintaining the safety of all road users.
