Ekwuanya: Panic as Idoma community invokes deadly gods against cultists, ritualists

Owukpa district in Ogbadibo Local Government area of Benue State, has invoked ‘Ekwuanya’ the deadly feminine spirit of the dreaded ‘Alekwu’ earth cult, in a bid to contain crime and other abominable acts in the society.

This was contained in a statement recently released by the Owukpa Traditional Council, and made available to IDOMA VOICE.

The notice titled “GUIDE OF OATH: EKWUANYA” read:

“1. Any Owukpa sons and daughters who plan to kill any of his or her Owukpa colleague shall liable to be killed by Ekwuanya after such person have confessed the plan or act.

2. If any Owukpa sons and daughters abet plan of any criminal act in Owukpa such fellow is liable to be killed by Ekwuanya after confession.

3. Any Owukpa person/persons who abet and arranged the act of kidnapping against his or her colleague in Owukpa shall be liable to be killed by Ekwuanya after confession.

4. All members of cult in Owukpa should with immediate effect withdraw from the act, but failed shall be killed by Ekwuanya after confession.

5. Those trying to join the act should withdraw from the act or shall be killed by Ekwuanya.

6. Any one who plan to kill the woman leader of Ekwuanya, shall be killed by Ekwuanya and such person/persons must confess why such action was taken against her.”
