El-Rufai asked to join Peter Obi in Labour Party

Deji Adeyanju, a well-known public affairs commentator, has taken a swipe at former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai following reports of his withdrawal from consideration for a ministerial position under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination. According to reliable sources, the Senate opted to withhold El-Rufai’s confirmation, alongside two other nominees, citing security concerns outlined in reports from the Department of State Services.

Consequently, El-Rufai reportedly conveyed his decision to relinquish the ministerial slot to President Tinubu, along with a suggestion for a suitable replacement. Adeyanju, however, offered a rather unconventional suggestion amidst the unfolding scenario. He humorously proposed that El-Rufai consider joining Peter Obi’s Labour Party in anticipation of the 2027 elections.

Adeyanju went on to elaborate that El-Rufai’s potential collaboration with Obi could be likened to a heavenly union due to their shared traits. The commentator speculated that their combined ticket could become a formidable force in the political landscape, given their predisposition towards controversial viewpoints and perceived instances of betrayal.

In a tweet posted on Friday, Adeyanju humorously stated, “But it will make a lot of sense if elRufai joins Labour Party. He will meet his fellow religious bigot there, and they can both run as presidential and VP candidates in 2027. They will fight their religious war together. Peter/El-Rufai 2027 ticket will be a strong one. A union made in Heaven. They both have bigotry and betrayal running in their DNA.”
