El-Rufai petitions PSC, accuses Kaduna Police Commissioner of misconduct
Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has petitioned the Police Service Commission, PSC, accusing senior officers of the Kaduna State Police Command of gross misconduct.
In a letter dated September 8, 2025, El-Rufai alleged that the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police abused his office and called on the PSC to launch an immediate and impartial investigation into what he described as “unlawful and unconstitutional conduct” by the Command’s authorities.
“I am writing as a citizen of Nigeria and former governor of Kaduna State to formally lodge this complaint and demand an immediate, impartial, and exhaustive investigation into the unlawful and unconstitutional conduct of the Commissioner of Police and some officers of the Kaduna State Police Command,” the petition read in part.
DAILY POST reports that tensions between El-Rufai and the Kaduna State Police Command have escalated in recent weeks. On August 30, 2025, El-Rufai and other opposition politicians were attacked by suspected political thugs during a meeting in Kaduna, prompting him to accuse police officers of colluding with the attackers.
Last week, reports indicated that the Command had invited El-Rufai and six senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.
