El-Rufai’s son rejects EFCC allegations of hidden $800 million, ₦700 billion at his home

Bello El-Rufai, the eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has strongly denied reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided his residence in Kaduna and uncovered large sums of money in various currencies, as well as drugs.

In a statement released to Naija News, El-Rufai dismissed the rumors as baseless, accusing those behind the claims of attempting to damage his credibility. Reports circulating online had suggested that the EFCC discovered $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and ₦1 trillion worth of drugs at his Kaduna residence.

El-Rufai, who currently represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, clarified that he does not own an apartment in Kaduna, but rather resides in the family home in Unguwar Sarki, where he has lived since birth.

He condemned the allegations as part of a deliberate smear campaign aimed at misleading the public, tarnishing his reputation, and creating confusion. “These attacks are completely unfounded and aimed at undermining my work and standing within my community,” El-Rufai stated.

He further assured his constituents that the rumors would not distract him from his duties, promising to continue providing strong, honest representation for the people of Kaduna North. “My constituents know the truth, and we will not be swayed by such malicious claims,” he said. “We will continue to serve the people, and we will enjoy watching the frustration of those who wish to see us fail.”

El-Rufai also emphasized that his legal team would pursue legal action against media outlets spreading false information. “Those spreading lies will be held accountable, and the funds recovered will be put to good use in Kaduna North,” he concluded.
