Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has shared his predictions for the forthcoming judgment from the presidential election petition tribunal scheduled for Wednesday, September 6. In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the spiritual leader expressed skepticism about the tribunal’s potential outcome, citing the reluctance of those in power to relinquish their positions.
According to Primate Ayodele, Nigerians should not anticipate a significant reversal of the presidential election results through the tribunal because the incumbent powers are determined to maintain their grip on authority. He noted that the forces at play are willing to obstruct justice in their quest to retain power, making it challenging to overturn the election’s outcome.
“As it stands, the situation remains uncertain, with a rerun not guaranteed. However, God can change any circumstance. The majority of Nigerians are likely to be disappointed with the tribunal’s verdict. Nigerians should temper their expectations as the powers that be are determined to prevent justice from prevailing. They are determined to cling to power at all costs, and it won’t be an easy task to overturn the presidential election results. I have previously mentioned that the court will not be able to remove Tinubu if the opposition allowed him to win the election,” Primate Ayodele commented.
He further warned that followers of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, should prepare for disappointment, as the tribunal’s judgment is unlikely to favor them. The best-case scenario, according to Primate Ayodele, could be a rerun of the election.
Primate Ayodele also urged all parties involved in the case to uphold law and order and refrain from inciting unrest or chaos in the country should they lose the case.
“The judgment is not expected to align with the desires of Peter Obi and his supporters. He cannot claim victory through the tribunal, and, as I have stated, the most likely outcome is either a rerun or the status quo remains. Regardless of the outcome, those on the losing side should maintain law and order, refraining from causing turmoil in the country,” he emphasized.
In conclusion, Primate Ayodele called on the judges handling the case to prioritize the unity of the nation by delivering a just verdict, undeterred by any form of intimidation.
“The judges hold the power to either strengthen or weaken the country with their rulings. Given the existing tension in the nation, their responsibility is to ensure justice prevails at all costs, without succumbing to any form of intimidation. They must demonstrate responsibility in their judgment,” Primate Ayodele concluded.
