Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to issue an apology to Nigerians regarding the case of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a tweet, Ezekwesili expressed her displeasure with the DSS’s handling of the charges against Emefiele. She questioned the reason behind the secret police charging Emefiele for illegal possession of firearms.
The former minister highlighted the impact of the monetary policies implemented during Emefiele’s tenure at the CBN and criticized the DSS for focusing on a seemingly minor charge of illegal firearms possession instead.
According to Ezekwesili: “@OfficialDSSNG must immediately apologize to Nigerians for daring to take citizens for a ride on this Emefiele’s court case. Imagine.
“So after all the monetary policy damage his boss @MBuhari and the former
@cenbank committed against the Nigerian economy and people, it is for “illegal possession of firearms” that State Security charged him to court. Nonsense.”
