End hunger protest rocks Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, others [PHOTS]
The nationwide protest scheduled for February 27 and 28 by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, over the high cost of living in the country commenced in Abuja and other parts of the country on Tuesday.
NLC had alerted its members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, to protest against the hardship faced by civil servants in Nigeria.
Recall hat the NLC and the Trade Union Congress issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government on February 8 over the failure to implement agreements reached on October 2 following the removal of fuel subsidy.
However, as Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship, the union has decided to embark on a two-day nationwide protest to press their demands.
Despite security advisories by the Department of State Services, DSS, the union has kicked off the protest in many cities across the country.
Aggrieved Nigerians and workers were seen trooping into the Labour House with security operatives in the early hours of Tuesday.
