The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent and deliberate steps to end the persistent killings in Benue State and other violence-stricken regions of the country.

Expressing deep concern over the federal government’s inability to find a lasting solution to the ongoing violent attacks, CAN emphasized the need for prioritizing the safety and security of all Nigerians.

The appeal was made on Tuesday by the President of CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, during a condolence visit to the Benue State Government in Makurdi. He was represented by CAN Vice President, Rev. Stephen Baba, who led the delegation.

This plea follows a recent attack where at least 56 people were killed in an attack by suspected herders in Benue State.

CAN urged the federal government to act swiftly to prevent further loss of lives and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The association also called on security agencies to intensify their efforts in protecting vulnerable communities and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
