END OF THE ROAD for killer herdsmen in Benue as troops kill three

Troops under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have eliminated three suspected armed herdsmen who attacked them in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.

General Sunday Igbinomwanhia, the Force Commander of OPWS, disclosed this on Monday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, during a briefing with journalists on the attack.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that OPWS covers Nasarawa, Taraba, and Benue states.

Mr. Igbinomwanhia stated that the armed herders killed one personnel and injured another during the attack, with the injured soldier currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Makurdi.

He added that the remaining troops are conducting a clearance operation to expel suspected armed foreign herders who have encroached upon Kwande Local Government Area.

He alleged that those terrorizing villages in Kwande LGA were suspected armed herdsmen entering the country through the international border line between Nigeria and Cameroon.

In another tragic incident, suspected herders killed about three persons in Kwande LGA on Sunday night.
