End SARS: ‘Stop killing your people’ – Man Utd legend, Evra tells Buhari; urges protesters not to give up
Patrice Evra, former Manchester United player, has released a video reacting to the ongoing End SARS campaign against police brutality in Nigeria.
The former Red Devils’ player pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to step in and stop the extrajudicial killings and brutalization of young Nigerians by the police.
Nigerian youths all over the world have been taking to streets and internet to protest against the brutality melted on Nigerians in Nigeria by the police especially the ones by the now disbanded SARS.
The protest gained major international recognition when the Nigerian army allegedly massacred scores of unarmed End SARS protesters and injured several others on October 20, 2020 at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.
Reacting to the travesty, Evra urged the protesting youths not to give up in their quest in demanding for justice for victims of police brutality and asking for police reform.
“Hi everyone!
“This is for all my Nigerian people, first of all I want to pay my deepest condolence for all your lost; friends, families. And I’m really in pains when I see what is happening right now in Nigeria,” he said.
“He went on to educate his people on the matter; “So, you need to educate yourselves, you know..
“When you see those hash tags especially the one “EndSARS”.
“SARS is a unit working with the police of Nigeria created I think in the early 90s. Actually SARS stands for Special Anti-Robbery Squad.”
