#EndSARS protest was funded by America to stop Tinubu’s presidency – Akande

Elder statesman and former interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has alleged that the #EndSARS movement was orchestrated by the Obidient movement with the aim of undermining President Bola Tinubu.

In a viral interview with Edmund Obilo, Akande claimed that the protest, which gained widespread traction in 2020, was heavily funded and supported by foreign interests, particularly the United States, and brought into Nigeria to be executed.

Akande asserted that the Obidient movement was behind #EndSARS, explaining that after the protests failed to bring about significant political change, the group attempted to form a political party. When that effort failed, Akande claimed they merged with another political party.

“#EndSARS was designed to end Tinubu,” Akande stated during the interview. “Those behind the movement knew exactly what they were doing.”

When pressed about the identities of those behind the protests, Akande pointed to the Obidient movement. “The Obidients were behind #EndSARS. It was manufactured in America and brought in just to stop him (Tinubu),” he said.

Akande further noted that after the #EndSARS protests, the Obidients attempted to form their own political party but were unsuccessful. As a result, they joined an existing party, according to Akande.

Asked whether the Obidients were connected to Peter Obi’s political faction, Akande responded vaguely, acknowledging a possible link but maintaining that the primary objective was political disruption against Tinubu.

“It was well-planned, with a lot of money from America,” Akande added, claiming that the #EndSARS movement was an ambush that President Tinubu was unaware of at the time.
