Chairman, Ukum Local Government Council, Hon. Comrade Kartyo Tyoumbur has decried high level of assasination of Ukum Local government indigene and non indigenous residents in the area.
This was contained in his funeral oration at burial of the Information Officer of Ukum Local Government Council, Late Ephraim Orbunde who was shot dead by gunmen last Saturday at his residence, Tse Afati, Mbagar, Uyam Ward, Sherev, Ngenev, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The chairman who couldn’t hide his bitter feelings explained that, upon his assumption of office, he had buried numerous scores of young men, women and children saying that, the devastating act has given Ukum Local Government a bad name and stressed the need for a change in attitude by perprators.
Comrade Kartyo wondered why youths of present generation has taken the wrong path by bringing curs upon themselves and condemned the act in totality, stressing that, those behind unabated killings shall not go unhurt as security under his watch shall do the needful to allow peace reign.
He further disclose that, the insecurity in the area has affected the economic well-being as serious business men and investors had deserted the area. He noted that, unity and peaceful coexistence among people remains the only alternative for development.
While praying for the repose of the deceased soul, the chairman enjoin the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that, mortals were made from dust and to dust shall they return.
