Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, Mauricio Pochettino, the team’s manager, provided updates on Reece James, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo.
Reece James, who had suffered a hamstring injury during training after the season’s opening game against Liverpool, is still without a definitive return date.
Pochettino expressed hope that the English international will be back in action before the international break in October.
As for Fernandez and Caicedo, they have recently rejoined the Chelsea squad after fulfilling their international duties in South America.
In the lead-up to the Bournemouth encounter, Pochettino couldn’t provide a definitive timeline for James’ recovery but expressed optimism about having the English player back before the international break in October.
“He is recovering well,” Pochettino said at his post-match press conference on Friday.
“I can’t say if he is close or not, but we assess him every day.
“He is starting to do things on the pitch with the ball. He is really well. He is really well. He is desperate to return and help the team. I hope he is close and hope he can be available before the next international break.”
On Fernandez and Caicedo, Pochettino added, “We saw them today, and he is in a good mood.
“He [Enzo] scored against Bolivia, I think he will be ready. Moises is a bit later than Enzo. So we will need to assess him but we hope [he’s ready].”
