Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus, has shed light on the heated altercation with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson that occurred following Arsenal’s significant victory over the Premier League champions last weekend.
Arsenal secured a 1-0 win against Pep Guardiola’s side, with Gabriel Martinelli netting the decisive goal in the 86th minute.
Post the match, emotions ran high, resulting in a clash involving Manchester City’s Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland, confronting Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.
Gabriel Jesus, who had left Manchester City to join Arsenal in the summer of 2022, engaged in a confrontation with his former teammate Ederson during stoppage time. The goalkeeper brought down his fellow Brazilian compatriot for time-wasting.
While both players received bookings for the incident, Jesus downplayed the bust-up, emphasizing his continued professional relationship with Ederson during their time together on international duty for Brazil’s national team.
“I have a good relationship, not just with Ederson. But on the pitch it is normal,” Jesus told reporters when asked about his tussle with Ederson.
“But on the pitch, he defends his team and I defend mine. It was a moment when we were winning and it was not easy to beat them.
“We were winning and I held the ball there. Anyway, he ended up giving me a push but afterwards, everything was normal. We came together and talked. That is it.”
