Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is very likely to be without key midfielder Rodri for their Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Cityzens are set to visit Stamford Bridge for their opening match of the 2024/25 season against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea.
Rodri, who was granted additional time off after helping Spain secure victory at Euro 2024 in Germany, did not participate in City’s pre-season.
The 28-year-old also missed last Saturday’s Community Shield win over Manchester United.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Rodri is not expected to return to the Etihad until Wednesday, potentially due to an injury sustained during the Euros final against England.
With limited time to regain fitness, it is unlikely that he will be included in the starting lineup against Chelsea. Instead, his return is anticipated for the match against Ipswich Town on August 24.
