Arsenal forward, Gabriel Jesus, has shared his pivotal role in facilitating the acquisition of Ukrainian star Oleksandr Zinchenko, 26, by the Gunners last year.
In the summer of 2022, both Jesus and Zinchenko made the move from Manchester City to Arsenal.
Prior to pursuing Zinchenko, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta prioritized Jesus as a significant addition during the summer transfer window.
Jesus has now disclosed that he contributed to Arsenal’s successful persuasion of Zinchenko to sign by engaging in discussions with him. He mentioned in an interview with GOAL that he accompanied Arsenal’s director, Edu, in conversing with Zinchenko.
“Edu just texted me and said they were going to Zinny’s house, if I want to come to join them to talk with Zin and then I come by plane.
“So I say ‘OK.’ I went there and talked with him. He was surprised.
“I just said ‘Zina, you have to take a decision like I did and I am happy with this.’ He was a little bit ‘I don’t know, I need to talk with my wife first’ but he took the decision [to come]. I think if you ask him, it was the right decision.”
