Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has cautioned his teammates to adopt a more ruthless and goal-focused approach after their 2-1 victory against Wolves over the weekend.
The Gunners secured a two-goal lead within the opening 13 minutes of the Premier League clash but failed to extend their advantage, leading to a tense final nine minutes after Matheus Cunha scored for Wolves in the 87th minute.
He said, “It is a mindset to be honest because you have the game completely under control and all of a sudden you stop doing the simple things that you need to keep doing.
“The game looks easy and then you start to play around, trying to enjoy the ball but at the end we need to put in our mind that we enjoy scoring goals and not just playing around and bringing pressure and situations that we don’t need.
Jorginho stressed the importance of maintaining a winning mindset, pointing out that even when the team appears to have control, there is a tendency to deviate from essential tasks. He urged the players to focus on simple, effective play rather than getting carried away.
Addressing the team’s need for greater ruthlessness, especially in the competitive Premier League, Jorginho highlighted that players should understand the game is never truly over at 1-0 or 2-0. He encouraged a mentality of aiming for more goals and respecting the game until the final whistle.
